Have you ever been told not to bother starting a blog because the industry is already too saturated? Here's what we say.... Just do it!
We've created the ultimate handbook to help you along the way.
1. To begin with, ask yourself this: What do you want to blog about? What are your interests and hobbies? How are you going to differentiate yourself from others in the industry? There is no 'right way' to blogging, be yourself!
2. Choose your blogging platform. Choose whatever you feel most comfortable and confident navigating and start designing your blog - take your time. Here is a list of our favourites:
3. Plan. Preparing your content before you publish your blog will benefit you in the future. Ensure you have more than one blog post written when you make your website live, give your readers a taste of what's to come.
4. Content creation. The aesthetic of the content you produce is crucial to stand out from the crowd. Having the equipment and the tools will allow you to do so, check out our creator kit for the industries best.
5. Optimise your content. This step is essential in order for your blog to grow. Include hyperlinks where you can, this will ensure SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), which will increase the size of your audience.
6. Be consistent. Get into a routine of planning, shooting and writing your blog posts. Your hard work will not go amiss, trust us!
7. Writer's block? Change your location, try writing in a public place: a coffee shop, out in the environment, find what works best for you. Also, have a break. Blogging can be quite overwhelming and you may not know it but taking time off may help you find the inspiration you were looking for.
8. Develop your social media presence on at least two platforms, we would personally recommend Instagram and Twitter. Having a recognisable presence will get your name out there and you can also advertise your blog on these platforms to encourage traffic.
9. Have a goal. Make sure you have something to work to and write them down, the satisfaction of completing them will give you the motivation to carry on!
10. Keep going! Don't go in with the mindset of making money straight away, patience is key. Work hard and spread positivity, whatever you put in will always come back to benefit you.
