What inspired you to start a blog in 2014?
I had just left my job as a teaching assistant due to anxiety and panic attacks. I had always loved fashion, and had actually got a place to study fashion marketing at Salford, but I’d stuck to teaching as the “sensible” option. After years of struggling through a difficult job, with little pay and no pastoral care, I decided to leave and take some time off. It was then that I discovered blogs through an article in Vogue discussing this new way of advertising - I started to look at Instagram, and have never looked back!
How did you come up with the name ‘Fashion Panic’?
My panic attacks had always defined my life in a negative way. I wanted to use the term with positive connotations. Every time I say it, I’m reminded that my anxiety has actual made me who I am.
How would describe your style?
I’d definitely say “classic”. I prefer tailored, well made timeless pieces with the odd trend mixed in. I love vintage blazers and bags, but generally prefer the modern chic looks. Although I do love to mix up the feminine/masculine silhouettes too!
Who inspires you when it comes to fashion?
Other women definitely. I’d say more bloggers and friends than anyone else. I love to see they way ‘normal’ girls style the high fashion pieces in a way that’s easy to wear.
How would you like to see the blogging community develop in the future?
I used to love to write - but now it feels as though no one really wants to read a blog, just ‘like’ your pictures. I’d love to see blogging make a come back, but I fear it’s just ‘fast’ information people want, such as video/stories.
How would you describe your writing style?
I’d say relaxed. I’ve always just written what I thought. I never think about it, I don’t use pretentious words, I just write as if I’m speaking to my friend. I like to get humour in there too!
What are you striving to achieve in 2018?
I want to extend my style into my interiors, and maybe even try YouTube! I just hope Instagram keeps the positive people, opportunities and general passion for the arts that so far it’s helped create.
