Why did you decide to create a blog?
I first started writing as a creative outlet alongside a very uncreative degree, and as a means for catharsis when I was struggling with my mental health. People resonated with my writing, which encouraged me to share on a wider scale. I left it for the best part of a year and later began writing again with the intention to share. It began as a London guide/foodie blog but I felt it was a bit limited so I self-branded into what it is today.
What made you reinvent your blog into a lifestyle blog?
I found that having a name for it, particularly one with a geographical focus, put me in a box. I self-branded so I could literally share everything and anything!
What is your favourite topic to blog about?
Think pieces! Millennial issues or lifestyle pieces focusing on life experience.
What do you enjoy most about blogging?
The variety. The wonderful people I get to engage with and the lifelong friends I've met through it. The ability to be creative and have total control over my own work, whilst being respected as a business woman too.
What do you find most difficult about blogging?
Misconceptions! The idea that we spend all our time in bouji coffee shops writing – I wish! 80% of my time is spent on totally mundane admin, emails and accounts.
I would love followers to become more understanding of the AD culture and why we HAVE to do them to make money, so we can offer all the other content for free! As in any industry, some spoil it for everyone else by taking on inauthentic campaigns, but for the most part followers should trust that any material – paid or not – is genuine.
Describe your writing style in four words.
Articulate, personal, relatable, informal.
What do you do to keep your blog interesting and to encourage traffic?
I just keep writing! The more I write, the more traffic I get. Routinely I share links on Twitter and Instagram to the posts.
What is your most memorable experience whilst working in the industry?
Ooh I have many! A very swanky sleepover at NOBU with Juicy Couture was definitely a highlight!
Your imagery is stunning. Do you have any inspiration?
I follow so many gorgeous accounts, but I try and do my own thing! I love seeing what's trending though and where the coolest new locations are, and Instagram is great for that.
Do you have an advise for an aspiring blogger?
Be yourself. There really is room for everyone, but you cannot try and imitate anyone else. Do things genuinely and share your true self if you want to earn trust and respect.
What are your goals for 2018 in the blogging industry?
YouTube! I'd love to travel more for work too!
